Some things we're often asked...
Yes. We work with authors at different stages of their careers, including writers who are preparing to approach agents or publishers.
Building clarity, presence and audience early can strengthen those conversations when they happen. You do not need to be published to work with The Author Bridge.
Literary agents and book publicists work around specific books and defined moments, such as pitching a manuscript or promoting a launch.
We help authors develop the foundations that make those relationships more effective: clarity about who you are as a writer, how you want to be known, and how your work shows up in the world over time.
Rather than focusing on short-term promotion, we support authors to build sustainable visibility, audience connection and income in ways that protect their creative energy.
This often strengthens agent conversations, publishing pitches and publicity opportunities when they arise, but it is not dependent on them.
Think of us as working on the structure beneath the surface, so that when opportunities come, you are ready for them.
There is no expectation that you speak to camera, post daily, or show up online in ways that feel forced or inauthentic.
A core part of our work is helping you decide whether social media plays a role in your visibility at all, and if so, which platforms and formats genuinely make sense for you. That might mean a light, considered presence you manage yourself. It might mean a more consistent presence that we plan and manage for you. Or it might mean focusing your energy elsewhere entirely.
Our aim is not to push you towards visibility for its own sake, but to help you build a public presence that feels aligned with your work, your temperament and your ambitions, and that supports your writing rather than draining it.
Book sales are very often part of the picture, but they are rarely the whole story.
Many authors need to think beyond book income alone. We support authors to explore additional, complementary income streams such as courses, workshops, mentoring, speaking or subscriptions, where appropriate.
All work is shaped around your goals, capacity and long-term sustainability.
It varies.
Some authors work with us for a focused discovery phase. We review your current visibility, identify opportunities, and build a clear, practical plan that you can take forward yourself. Many authors then book periodic review sessions to check in, refine their approach and respond to changes over time.
Others prefer to stay focused on their writing and ask us to manage the implementation of that plan on their behalf. In those cases, we agree an ongoing arrangement where we take care of the day-to-day work for a set period of time, with scope and costs agreed upfront.
There is no fixed programme or expectation of long-term commitment. We shape the work around what you need, when you need it, and how closely you want to be involved.
We usually begin with an initial conversation to understand where you are now and what you’re navigating - because this is completely different for everyone.
From there, we may recommend a structured discovery and review phase, or suggest another approach if that feels more appropriate.
